GW Dominates Dayton on Sunday, 17-2

DAYTON, Ohio - The George Washington baseball team concluded a big offensive week by downing Dayton, 17-2, on Sunday afternoon at Woerner Field to clinch the series.
Key Stats
- GW improves to 5-1 in Atlantic 10 play and has now won each of its last three weekend series.
- GW posted the second-highest run (17) and hit (17) total of the season in Sunday's win. Seven of the Colonials' nine starters contributed multiple hits with three-hit days by Isaiah Pasteur, Mark Osis and Matt Cosentino leading the way.
- Nine of GW's 17 hits went for extra bases on Sunday with seven doubles, one triple and one home run.
- Pasteur hit his A-10 leading eighth home run of the season in the game.
- Four different players drove in at least three runs in the rout - Pasteur, Osis, Cosentino and Dominic D'Alessandro each drove in three apiece.
- Nathan Woods held Dayton at bay all afternoon to earn his team-leading third win of the season. He allowed just two runs (one earned) over eight strong innings and scattered seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
- Freshman Harrison Cohen worked a perfect ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts to cement the victory and series win.
Scoring - Bottom 1: Dayton got on the board first when a two-out single got to third base on a stolen base and error. A squeeze bunt single brought the runner home (Dayton 1, GW 0).
- Top 2: Sophomore Nate Fassnacht was hit by a pitch with one out, moved to third on a single by Osis and then scored on a RBI groundout from D'Alessandro (GW 1, Dayton 1).
- Top 3: Pasteur reached first base on a one-out infield single and advanced to third after a failed pickoff attempt. He then scored on a sacrifice fly from sophomore Steven Barmakian (GW 2, Dayton 1).
- Top 4: The Colonials broke the game open with a seven-run fourth inning. Cosentino drove in the first run on a groundout. D'Alessandro followed with a RBI double, ahead of a three-run home run over the centerfield wall by Pasteur. Osis rounded out the scoring with a two-run double to right field (GW 9, Dayton 1).
- Bottom 4: Dayton answered the big inning with a RBI double but GW escaped further damage (GW 9, Dayton 2).
- Top 6: Freshman Colin Brophy doubled to lead off the inning and then scored when Barmakian laced a triple down the right-field line to bring him home. After a pitching change, Metz lifted a sacrifice fly out to center field to push the lead to nine (GW 11, Dayton 2).
- Top 7: Cosentino hit a one-out double and then was driven home on a RBI single by D'Alessandro (GW 12, Dayton 2).
- Top 8: Cosentino picked up a two-run single for the first runs of the inning and another came in to score on an error in the field (GW 15, Dayton 2).
- Top 9: Pasteur walked with one out and later scored on a RBI double by Metz. GW's final run of the day scored on a RBI single by Osis (GW 17, Dayton 2).
