Baseball Clinches Series with 5-4 Win on Saturday

ARLINGTON, Va. - The George Washington baseball team clinched the series victory with Saturday's 5-4 win over La Salle at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park.

Key Stats
- The win is GW's fourth in a row and evens the season record at 11-11 overall.
- The Colonials also improve to 9-2 at home.
- Junior Pat Knight earned his second win in as many days. He had entered the game with the score tied 2-2 and pitched out of a jam. In total he allowed an earned run over 1.2 innings of work.
- Senior Robbie Metz broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth when he drove a two-run home run down the left-field line and out of the park. It was his second homer of the year.
- Isaiah Pasteur earned his third save of the year by finishing the game with four innings of one-run ball. He scattered five hits and registered a strikeout.
- Nate Fassnacht finished 2-for-4 for his second consecutive multi-hit game. He has also hit safely in the last six games.
Scoring - Bottom 1: Pasteur led off the Colonials' first with a walk and later scored on a RBI groundout by senior Mark Osis (GW 1, La Salle 0).
- Bottom 2: Senior Matt Cosentino led off with a walk and moved to third on a throwing error before scoring on a wild pitch (GW 2, La Salle 0).
- Top 3: A one-out double later scored on a RBI single for the Explorers' first run of the day (GW 2, La Salle 1).
- Top 4: The Explorers loaded the bases and then tied the game on a fielding error (GW 2, La Salle 2).
- Bottom 5: Pasteur led off with a double to the gap in right center and Metz followed by blasting a two-run home run down the left field wall (GW 4, La Salle 2).
- Bottom 5: Senior Brandon Chapman connected on a two-out RBI single to extend the lead (GW 5, La Salle 2).
- Top 6: The Explorers scored on a two-out RBI single (GW 5, La Salle 3).
- Top 7: A leadoff double came around to score on a RBI single to pull La Salle within one run of the lead (GW 5, La Salle 4).
