
Men's Tennis Downs Temple

WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat visiting Temple, 4-2, at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center on Wednesday afternoon.
The Colonials (7-4) battled from the start, taking the No. 1 doubles match before falling at No. 2. Temple clinched the early point with a close, 7-6, win at No. 3 to take a 1-0 lead.
Temple quickly increased its lead to 2-0 in singles play after taking the No. 3 match, but junior Christos Hadjigeorgiou answered with a swift straight-set win at No. 4.
Junior Chris Fletcher quickly followed with a dominant win in second-flight play to knot the match at 2-2. Classmate Jabari Stafford put GW within one of clinching the match with his straight-set triumph at the No. 6 position.
Rookie Dennis Afanasev solidified the win, coming back from a set down to claim a No. 5 victory.
The Colonials begin a stretch of seven consecutive road bouts on Saturday, March 4 at Navy.
