TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The George Washington men's tennis team fell at Florida State, 4-0, on Saturday morning at the Seminoles' Scott Speicher Tennis Center. GW returns home on Sunday to host Monmouth at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center for a 12 p.m. match.
George Washington (4-3) played a highly competitive doubles portion as the junior pair of Chris Reynolds and Christos Hadjigeorgiou claimed a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 position after Florida State (7-3) took the top battle. Freshman Jakub Behun and junior Jabari Stafford pushed the No. 3 match to a tiebreaker but FSU ultimately claimed the early point with a 7-6 (7-1) win.
The Seminoles quickly added to their lead in singles play, claiming straight-set wins at the Nos. 3 and 2 positions. Florida State clinched the match with another straight-set win, this time at No. 1.
"Our team will learn from the tougher opposition they faced today and apply those lessons going forward, starting with our Monmouth match tomorrow," said first-year head coach David Macpherson.
The Colonials have a quick turnaround, returning to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center for a Homecoming Weekend match with Monmouth.
