Men's Tennis Triumphs Over Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The George Washington men's tennis team defeated Austin Peay on the road on Friday, 6-1, at the Governors Tennis Center to open a weekend road trip.
The Colonials (3-1) took the early point before claiming all but one singles contest to put the match out of reach for Austin Peay (0-3).
"Today was a great road win," said first-year head coach David Macpherson. "A lot of gutsy performances all around to beat a competitive Austin Peay team."
The pair of junior Chris Fletcher and freshman Jakub Behun began the day with a dominant 6-2 doubles win in the No. 3 position. The Governors then took the top-flight match, but junior Chris Reynolds and rookie William Tutecky clinched the early point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 slot to give GW a 1-0 lead.
The Colonials carried the momentum into singles play as junior Christos Hadjigeorgiou notched another point for the Buff and Blue with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Tutecky then staged a come-from-behind, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, defeat of his third-flight opponent to put GW ahead, 3-0. Fletcher clinched the match with his 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 battle at the No. 2 position.
Playing in the top solo spot for the first time in his career, Reynolds battled to take a 6-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 triumph. GW's final win came when senior Fernando Sala took an 8-7 (7-3) win at the No. 6 spot in a shortened contest to give the Colonials a 6-1 victory.
