WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis squad wraps regular-season play on Sunday in a senior day match as Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne visits the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Colonials (10-8, 2-0 A-10) have won four of their last five matches. Sophomore Chris Reynolds and senior Danil Zelenkov have posted strong spring seasons in solo play, tallying 11-7 and 10-5 records, respectively.
Zelenkov and junior Julius Tverijonas have been an unstoppable duo in 2016 with a perfect 9-0 mark at the No. 1 doubles slot for the Colonials.
Duquesne (7-10, 3-3 A-10) split a pair of matches last weekend, shutting out A-10 foe La Salle, 4-0, on Friday before falling at Temple, 5-2, on Saturday. The Dukes will visit Richmond on Friday before coming to the District on Sunday.
Corey Robinson leads the Dukes with a 10-7 singles mark at the top flight this spring. The pair of Adam Blasinksy and Chris Corrao own a team-best 5-3 doubles record playing at the No. 2 position.
The Colonials and Dukes will meet for the first time since 2011, when GW downed Duquesne, 4-0, in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal and went on to win the conference title.
Prior to the 10 a.m. match, seniors Cahit Kapukiran and Zelenkov will be honored in a senior day ceremony.
