GW Men's Tennis Downs Morgan State

WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team downed Morgan State, 6-1, at the Southeast Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon after a two-week hiatus from competition.
The Colonials (2-2) quickly grabbed the doubles point to secure a 1-0 lead after the top duo of junior Julius Tverijonas and senior Danil Zelenkov took a decisive 6-1 win and senior Cahit Kapukiran and sophomore Chris Reynolds posted a 6-2 triumph at No. 3 to clinch the point and suspend the second-flight match.
In singles play, Tverijonas made quick work at the top spot for a 6-2, 6-2 win to extend GW's lead to 2-0. Sophomore Chris Fletcher downed his third-flight opponent, 6-2, 6-3, before classmate Christos Hadjigeorgiou clinched the match for the Colonials at the No. 4 slot, 6-2, 6-1.
Morgan State (2-5) earned its lone point at the No. 2 position before Kapukiran triumphed at No. 6 to finish the day and give the Colonials a 6-1 victory over an Atlantic Region opponent.
The Colonials return to action next Saturday as GW visits St. John's in Queens, New York.
