WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team returns to the court on Saturday to host Atlantic Region foe Morgan State at the indoor Southeast Tennis Center for a 2 p.m. match.
The Colonials (1-2) competed three times in a four-day span to open the season before a two-week hiatus. GW grabbed its first victory of the spring at Southern Miss with an exciting 4-3 comeback win, overcoming a 3-1 deficit to tally the triumph.
Junior Julius Tverijonas and senior Danil Zelenkov - the region's No. 7-ranked tandem - enter the weekend with a perfect 2-0 mark in doubles play. Zelenkov and Tverijonas also hold regional singles rankings of No. 19 and No. 20, respectively.
Morgan State (1-4) most recently fell at Drexel, 4-3, on Jan. 31, and will host James Madison on Friday before visiting the District. The Bears were picked to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference northern division after posting a 4-0 league mark in 2015.
The Colonials and Bears last met in 2014, when GW came away with a 7-0 sweep. Zelenkov and Tverijonas both tallied singles and doubles wins on the day.
The Southeast Tennis Center is located at 701 Mississippi Avenue, Southeast, in Washington, D.C.
