TULSA, Okla. - George Washington men's tennis senior Julius Tverijonas advanced to the main draw in singles play at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Tverijonas defeated both of his opponents on Tuesday in qualifying singles play to earn a spot in the main draw, which will begin on Thursday.
The senior first downed South Alabama's Tuki Jacobs, 6-3, 7-5 in the second round of qualifying action. Tverijonas then went on to defeat Minnesota's Felix Corwin, 6-1, 6-4. The Siauliai, Lithuania, native now has three singles wins in the tournament.
Tverijonas owns a 7-0 singles record this fall with his four-match flight victory at the fall-opening Joe Hunt Invitational in September.
Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions from the tournament receive automatic entrance into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships from Nov. 3-6, at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
