Tverijonas Advances for GW Men's Tennis on Monday

TULSA, Okla. - Senior Julius Tverijonas advanced to the second round of qualifying singles play at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships on Monday at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Tverijonas defeated Luke Gamble of Princeton in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, in the first round of singles qualifying play and will face South Alabama's Tuki Jacobs in second round action on Tuesday.
Tverijonas will need to win two singles matches on Tuesday to advance to main draw play.
Both of GW's doubles pairs fell in qualifying play on Monday to ranked pairs. Tverijonas paired with junior Chris Fletcher to take on the No. 28 pair of Justin Butsch and Jordan Daigle of LSU and came close, narrowly falling 7-5, 7-6 (2) to the second-seeded tandem.
The duo of freshman Dennis Afanasev and junior Christos Hadjigeorgiou battled but ultimately fell, 6-1, 7-6 (3) to North Carolina's No. 33 pair of Jack Murray and Ronnie Scneider, the sixth-seed.
