GW Men's Tennis Ends Run at ITA Regionals

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The George Washington men's tennis squad ended its run at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships on Sunday at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burlson Tennis Center.
Senior Julius Tverijonas advanced to the Round of 16 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Penn State's Nika Dolidze. Eleventh-seeded Tverijonas went on to face fifth-seeded Alex Ribeiro of Virginia Tech but bowed out of singles play, 6-2, 7-6 (4).
Freshman Dennis Afanasev ended his first ITA Regional run in the Round of 32, falling to eighth-seeded Jai Corbett of Virginia Tech.
The Colonials return to action on Nov. 4 to begin the prestigious Dick Vitale Invitational in Sarasota, Florida, for a three-day tournament.
