2015 Fall Schedule
WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team has released its fall 2015 tournament schedule, 10th-year head coach Greg Munoz announced on Tuesday.
Coming off of back-to-back Atlantic 10 Championship crowns, the Colonials have lined up a challenging fall slate in which they will compete in seven tournaments.
"We have added more tournaments to our fall schedule this year to give each player a chance to compete with the expectation of success," said Head Coach Munoz. "We are a very deep team this year and our fall tournaments will give our student-athletes the chance to fight for a spot come dual matches in January."
The Colonials will open fall competition at the UVa Ranked +1 Invitational, held at UVa's Snyder Tennis Center from Sept. 18-20. Participating institutions may enter one unranked player for every ranked student-athlete participating in the tournament. GW will next travel to Annapolis, Maryland, for the Navy Invitation on Sept. 25-27.
During the weekend of Oct. 2-4, the squad will split up as several players enter a tournament hosted by Revolutionary Rival and Atlantic 10 foe George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia. The remaining student-athletes compete at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia.
GW will next travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the prestigious Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships. Qualifying rounds will be held from Oct. 5-7, while the main draw competition will span Oct. 8-12. The first major championship of the fall collegiate season, the All-American Championships will give automatic entry into the November USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship to its top finishers.
The Colonials will then travel to Blacksburg, Virginia, for the Virginia Tech hosted ITA/USTA Atlantic Regional Championships from Oct. 15-19. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Region includes schools located in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Winners of the singles and doubles flights of the single-elimination tournament will earn bids to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship.
The fall slate will conclude at the Wolfpack Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, from Oct. 23-25.
