Senior Francisco Dias set a new program record for career singles victories on Sunday with his 85th solo triumph, breaking the previous record set by current Chairman of the Board, CEO and President of the USTA and GW Athletics Hall of Fame member David Haggerty ('75-'79).
Dias began the weekend with a doubles win over his opponents from Atlantic 10 foe George Mason in a Revolutionary Rivalry bout at the No. 1 position with freshman partner Chris Fletcher. The Portugal native then tied Haggerty's mark of 84 with a 6-0, 7-5 defeat of the Patriots' James Lange in the top solo slot on Senior Day to help the Colonials wrap the season with a perfect 4-0 home record.
On Sunday, the business administration major downed Georgetown's Daniel Khanin in a three-set, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, battle to snap a record that had stood for over three decades.
The Colonials triumphed over both Mason and Georgetown by a score of 6-1, finishing the regular season on a four-match win streak.
