WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team will send six Colonials to compete at the newly rescheduled Elon Invitational over the weekend. The tournament's originally scheduled dates, Oct. 2-4, were washed out due to heavy rain.
Sophomores Chris Fletcher, Christos Hadjigeorgiou, Chris Reynolds and Jabari Stafford, junior Fernando Sala and senior Cahit Kapukiran will visit Elon, North Carolina, for the two-day tournament beginning on Saturday.
USC Upstate and UNC Asheville will join GW and host Elon in the hidden dual format tournament. Singles spots 1-6 and doubles slots 1-3 will be reported as flights.
At the fall season-opening Joe Hunt Invitational, the pair of Stafford and Sala earned the B Flight doubles title after four consecutive victories. In singles play, Sala reached the B Flight consolation finals, while Stafford took fifth place in the D Flight.
Fletcher, Hadjigeorgiou, Kapukiran and Reynolds will compete for the first time this fall.
