GW Men's Tennis Set for ITA Atlantic Regionals

ITA Atlantic Regional Championships Tournament Central
WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team will compete in the 2015 USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Virginia Tech at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. The tournament will begin on Thursday, Oct. 15, and conclude on Monday, Oct. 19.
The tournament will follow a single-elimination format, and singles and doubles champions will earn automatic bids to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York, from Nov. 12-15.
Sophomore Jabari Stafford and junior Fernando Sala will compete in the qualifying singles round beginning on Thursday. Sophomores Chris Fletcher, Christos Hadjigeorgiou and Chris Reynolds, junior Julius Tverijonas and seniors Cahit Kapukiran and Danil Zelenkov will compete in the singles main draw beginning Friday.
The Colonials will also compete in the main draw doubles play at the Atlantic Regionals. Tverijonas and Zelenkov will pair up and are tied with the duo of Sala and Stafford with a team-best 5-1 mark in the fall. Fletcher and partner Hadjigeorgiou and the pair of Kapukiran and Reynolds enter the week with a 1-1 fall record.
The ITA Atlantic Region includes schools located in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. GW and host Virginia Tech will be joined by representatives from 23 schools including: Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, George Mason, Georgetown, Hampton, James Madison, Liberty, Morgan State, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Temple, UMBC, Villanova, Virginia, VCU, and William & Mary.
