
No. 53 GW Men's Tennis Defeats Richmond, 6-1

WASHINGTON - The No. 53 George Washington men's tennis team defeated Atlantic 10 foe Richmond, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The No. 3 duo of seniors Viktor Svensson and Ulrik Thomsen clinched the doubles point for the Colonials with a tiebreaker victory over Dylan Trent and Jonathan Quenard, and GW picked up singles wins at Nos. 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The No. 2 tandem of senior Nikita Fomin and sophomore Danil Zelenkov rolled to an 8-2 win over Alex Hahn and Canyon Teague, then Svensson and Thomsen battled for an 8-7 (4) win in the third flight to give GW a 1-0 lead over Richmond.
Dias defeated Ethan Dunbar in three sets at the No. 1 singles spot, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, for his sixth straight win. In the No. 3 match, Zelenknov earned a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Dylan Trent to extend his unbeaten streak to 12 matches, and freshman Julius Tverijonas downed Alex Hahn at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-2.
Svensson topped Teague, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5 and Thomsen defeated Noah Fenton in No. 6 action by scores of 6-3, 7-5. Fomin was edged in a super tiebreaker by Jacob Dunbar, 6-7 (7), 6-2, 4-10, at the No. 2 spot.
