CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The George Washington men's tennis team closed the final day of the UVA Fall Classic on Sunday at the Cavaliers' Snyder Tennis Center.
Freshmen Chris Fletcher and Jabari Stafford both earned singles victories on the afternoon in their respective brackets.
Fletcher won the Orange Singles back draw with a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 1-0 (3) victory over UMBC's Daniel Grey. He then earned a default win over William and Mary's Will Juggins, who did not compete. In Gold Singles, Stafford first picked up a 7-5, 6-3 win over George Mason's Nick Barker, then earned the decision over Bucknell's Ben Gerber, who did not play.
Rookie Christos Hadjigeorgiou dropped a tight three-set White Singles match to Theophile Lanthiez of Old Dominion, 6-3, 5-7, 0-1 (8), but nabbed the default victory over Dan Wright of Bucknell, who pulled out of the match.
The Colonials wrap the fall season in two weeks at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia.
