GW Men's Tennis Opens Singles at UVA Fall Classic

UVA Fall Classic Complete Draws
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The George Washington men's tennis team wrapped the second day of the UVA Fall Classic on Saturday at the Cavaliers' Snyder Tennis Center.
Freshmen Chris Fletcher and Jabari Stafford posted singles victories in their respective brackets. Fletcher dropped his first Orange Singles match to ETSU's Connor Huertas, 4-6, 3-6, but rebounded in the back draw to defeat Louis Ishizaka of Atlantic 10 foe VCU, 6-3, 6-1. In Gold Singles, Stafford topped Radford's Janken Trhoen, 6-2, 6-0, but was edged in a three-set battle to Damon Niquet of William & Mary by scores of 7-5, 6-7 (6), 3-6.
Rookie Christos Hadjigeorgiou fell to Colin Sinclair of Cornell in White Singles play, 2-6, 2-6, and classmate Darian Hashemzadeh dropped a 4-6, 3-6, decision to JMU's Stephen Goldman. They now both receive byes through the first round of their back draws.
The Colonials are joined by players from 17 schools in Bucknell, The Citadel, Cornell, Davidson, East Tennessee State, George Mason, James Madison, Liberty, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Princeton, Radford, UMBC, VCU, host Virginia, Virginia Tech and William & Mary, and the event consists of six 16-player singles draws and six eight-team doubles draws.
