Competing in his first career event as a member of the George Washington men's tennis team, junior newcomer Nikita Fomin went undefeated in the Gold Singles flight at the UVA Ranked +1 Invitational this past weekend and became the first GW men's tennis student-athlete to win a main draw at the elite tournament. Fomin's championship run was highlighted by upsets over two nationally ranked opponents in No. 52 Alexis Heugas of Atlantic 10 newcomer VCU in the quarterfinal match and No. 70 Sebastian Stiefelmeyer from Louisville in the title match.
