GW Men's Tennis Remains Perfect on Spring Break Swing

Senior Ugur Atalay and freshman Francisco Dias won their No. 1 doubles match, 8-6, over Josep Baro and Adrien Rossignon. The duo of senior Richard Blumenfeld and junior Alexander van Gils fell to David Clavera and Fernando Guillen, 8-5, and junior Leonardo Lapentti and sophomore Viktor Svensson dropped an 8-5 decision to Iwdal August and Ondrej Kralik to surrender the doubles point to the Camels.
In No. 1 singles play, Dias - who is ranked No. 80 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles poll - dropped a tight match to Adrien Rossignon by scores of 6-4, 7-5. Atalay fought to defeat Guillen in the No. 2 match in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
At the No. 3 spot, van Gils dropped his first set to Clavera, 5-7, but rallied to win the next two sets by 6-3, 6-3 scores in the deciding match that earned the victory for the Colonials.
Lapentti earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over James Jones in the fifth flight, and Svensson glided to a 6-0, 6-4 win over Kralik in the No. 6 match. Blumenfeld dropped his No. 4 match to Baro, 6-3, 6-1.
