Stern Finishes Sixth at Mount St. Mary's Duals

EMMITSBURG, MD - Senior Jessica Stern finished in 6th place (out of 57 runners) in the 2010 season opener for The George Washington University women's cross country team. The Colonials finished in sixth place at the Mount St. Mary's Duals. GW head coach Brian Beil elected to hold out his top runner, Megan Hogan, the Colonials' All-American.
Junior Emily Foster finished in 30th place after completing the 5K course in 21:42.57 while sophomore Julia Weir took 37th place with a time of 22:20.11. Finishing right behind Weir in 38th place was sophomore Heather Stevens, who clocked in at 22:22.36.
Junior Kyla Sommers and Estelle Faulkner rounded out the Colonials performance with 45th and 49th place finishes, respectively. Sommers completed the course in 23:15.05 while Faulkner finished in 23:49.01
On the men's side, Senior Zach Borenstein paced the Colonials with a 13th-place finish (out of 80) with a time of 16:04.34, bettering his course time last year by seven seconds. GW finished the duals with a 3-2 record, defeating Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis (Pa.) and Navy while falling to American and UMBC.
Two newcomers, sophomore David McCutcheon and freshman Daniel Kleine cracked the top-25 finishing in 19th-place and 24th-place, respectively. Sophomore Alex Dadds also ran well, finishing in 23rd-place with a time of 16:19.29
The Colonials return to action on September 18th, when they participate in the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, MD.
