DORADO, Puerto Rico - GW golf began its spring season with a 10th place finish on Tuesdays at the Dorado Beach Collegiate, carding a 25-over 889.
Manuel Barbachano and Adam Bencik were the top individual scorers with dueling 2-over 218s to finish in a tie for 21st. Barbachano shot even-par 72s in the first two rounds before rounding out the tournament with a 74 on Tuesday. Bencik rebounded from an opening 76 to fire a 3-under 69 on Monday, getting back in contention.Â
Evan Eichenlaub had the low round on Tuesday with a 1-under 71 to finish in a tie for 60th with a 12-over 217.
Stetson won the team competition with a 15-under 849, beating Southern Miss by eight strokes. GW edged out Georgia State on the final day by one shot after entering Tuesday in a tie for 10th.
GW is back on the course in two weeks when it heads to the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate at Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. from March 9-11.
