Golf Reigns Supreme at The Goat, Claims Team Title

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - GW golf won its first team championship in seven years with a superb showing at The Goat, taking the title by three shots over Georgetown. The Buff & Blue carded a 4-over 856 with Evan Eichenlaub and Patricio Gonzalez leading the way with t-4 finishes at 1-under 212.

GW's triumph marked its first since the A-10 Match Play Championship in 2019 and first in a stroke play event since the 2018 Navy Spring Invitational, which also took place at the Naval Academy Golf Club.

The Revolutionaries sat in fifth place after the first 18 holes, but made a great charge in the second round Saturday by firing a 3-under 281 to close to within one stroke of William & Mary entering the final round. Gonzalez shot a 3-under 68 on Saturday evening individually to highlight the comeback.

GW then blew past the Tribe by eight shots on Sunday with Rodrigo Barahona (-2) and Eichenlaub (-1) carding under-par rounds to extend the advantage and hold off a late charge from Georgetown for the 3-shot win.

The team total of 856 marks the ninth-lowest in program history and the best since September 2024. Next up, GW will look to continue its momentum when it heads to the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational on October 5-6.
