Men's Tennis Get to Finals in Doubles Brackets

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Erik Hannah and Ugur Atalay, as well as Alexander van Gils and Chris Kushma, made it to the finals in their bracket but fell short on Sunday at the University of Virginia Invitational. Hannah and Atalay fell to Maryland's Wyss and Doornenbal 8-6. Winthrop's Levy and Kubi defeated Van Gils and Kushma 8-5.
"I am very happy with our doubles team this year," said head coach Greg Munoz. "Our new players have added the right touch to our upper classmen."
Viktor Svensson made it to the finals of his singles bracket, falling 6-3, 6-0, to a tough Cornell opponent.
Van GIls and Atalay placed third in their singles flights by winning the third place playoff. Atalay had a tough match with Ethan Dunbar of Richmond but finished the 10 point super-breaker strong 10-3.
Kushma and Hannah won their backdraws in singles. Hannah finished the tournament with his best play of the weekend with a win over Old Dominion's #2 player last year, Ben Chomette in the backdraw final.
Next up on the Colonials fall schedule is the Georgetown Classic, Sept. 17- 19.
