Colonials Fall Late At Navy 9-6

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University baseball team hit the road on Tuesday and fell late to the Naval Academy by the score of 9-6. The Colonials led 3-0 going to the sixth inning, but gave up nine late runs late in defeat. Freshman Ryan Heinz got the start and went 4 2/3 innings and gave up just three hits. The Jacksonville, FL native also struck out four.
Junior Brendon Kelliher hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season and drove in three runs to lead the offense. Freshman Paul Pakan also recorded two hits and drove in two from the second spot in the order. Senior designated hitter Curtis Eward also reached base twice with a hit and a walk in the loss. He also scored a run in the contest.
Sophomore Marshall Seedorff pitched the final three innings and allowed three earned runs and struck out four batters. The Colonials fought back in the late innings with three eighth inning runs, but were unable to catch the Midshipmen, who scored six sixth inning runs and added three total runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
The Colonials will then host George Mason on Wednesday, April 7th at Barcroft Park before heading to Dayton, OH to take on the Flyers this weekend. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. tomorrow and the starting pitcher for the Colonials is to be announced.
