Men's Tennis Drop Home Season Opener to Radford

WOODBRIDGE, VA -- Junior Erik Hannah stepped up for the GW men's tennis team Saturday, capturing the only victory for the Colonials in the 5-1 loss against Radford University at the Montclair Country Club.
Hannah defeated Zack Watson in straight sets at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-3.
"Every match one player puts in a strong showing. This match it was Erik Hannah," said head coach Greg Munoz. "Pretty soon the whole team will step up together."
Freshman Ken Mkrtchian saw his first spring season action at No. 6 singles, falling in a tough match 6-2, 6-4, to Radford's Erik Finkenbrink.
"With some injuries to the team, the team is looking for solid performance from Ken," said Munoz. "He will certainly be put to the test in the for a couple of weeks, getting some matches under his belt."
The doubles matches were not finished because the match was decided in the singles wins by Radford.
GW is back in action on Tuesday, March 9, at 1 p.m. against Charlotte in their first outdoor match of the season at the Mount Vernon Tennis Facility.
