ANNAPOLIS, MD -- Junior Erik Hannah extended his winning streak on Wednesday, when the George Washington men's tennis team defeated Navy, 5-2, at the Tose Family Tennis Center for their first non-conference victory.
"We used this tough schedule to get us to this point," said head coach Greg Munoz. "We have to continue to strengthen our doubles, but spend the next three weeks on cleaning up our singles play."
Hannah won his No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-4, over Jeremy New and teamed up with Ugur Atalay at No. 2 doubles to defeat Nick Birger and Ramsey Lemaich 8-3 for the only Colonial doubles victory.
Navy went up quickly, winning the first singles point but the Colonials battled back to take all five of the other singles matches. Atalay's No. 1 singles three-set victory sealed the team win for the Colonials.
The Colonials will host rival Georgetown on Saturday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at the Mount Vernon Tennis Facility before traveling to East Carolina on Sunday with a noon start time.
