Colonials Drop 11-6 Decision to Red Foxes

ARLINGTON, VA - The George Washington University baseball team returned to action Tuesday after an unexpected week-long layoff and lost to the Marist Red Foxes by the score of 11-6. It was the Colonials first loss in the month of March to snap an eight game winning streak. Junior Eric Cantrell made the start of the Colonials and threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs.
Senior Tom Zebroski hit his second home run of the season, a ninth inning grand slam. Zebroski on the day went 2-4 and also scored two runs. Senior third baseman Chris Holland also went 2-5 to continue the hot start to his 2010 season.
The Red Foxes were led by third baseman Jon Schwind, who recorded three hits on the day and drove in two runs. Shortstop Richard Curylo also went 2-3 and also walked two times to lead the Marist attack.
The Colonials will return tomorrow to Barcroft Park and participate in a doubleheader with the Red Foxes beginning at 12:30 p.m. EST. Junior Joe Richardson is slated to take the ball in the first contest, with senior Ryan Lapointe getting the start in the second game.
