WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University men's tennis team continued their 2007-2008 fall schedule at the three-day Georgetown Classic, held over the weekend in Washington, DC, with matches held at both school's campuses.
The Colonials entered senior Sam Salyer (Minneapolis, MN/St. Paul Academy), senior Elliott Daniels (Goldsboro, NC/Heritage Academy), sophomore Ryan Schlachter (Dallas, TX/The June Shelton School) freshman Bryan Beasley.
Salyer played great tennis throughout, but eventually fell to two-time finalist Anthony Tan of Georgetown in the quarterfinals. Schlachter and Beasley teamed together and advanced to the semifinals. Salyer and Daniels also paired to make it to the quarterfinals.
"It was a great showing for the young players," said head coach Greg Munoz.
Next week, the men's tennis team will travel to Flushing, NY, to participate in the ECAC Tournament, which hosts the top 16 teams in the northeast.
George Washington finished the 2006-07 season 13-15 overall, and earned a third-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship.
