COLLEGE PARK, MD - The George Washington University men's tennis team was defeated by Maryland, 6-1, on Saturday, March 4, at the Terrapins' College Park Tennis Complex. Sophomore Mark Doumba (Bradenton, FL) notched the Colonials' lone win at No. 4 singles in three sets.
Maryland claimed the doubles point with wins at first and second doubles. Sophomores Mustafa Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey) and Elliott Daniels (Hilton Head, SC) teamed together at No. 1 and were narrowly defeated, 9-8, by Boris Fetbroyt and Josh Brauser.
In singles action, Doumba topped Aaron Carr, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 at the No. 4 position to lead GW.
The Colonials (1-6) are back in action when they travel to Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, March 17 to face Saint Joseph's at 12:00 p.m.
