Hane Named Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Player

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington men's tennis player Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Guad) was named the Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Player in voting conducted by the league's head coaches. Fellow Colonials, Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central), were named to the A-10's All-Conference team.
Hane has been a member of the Atlantic 10's All-Conference team all four years, while at George Washington. He started his career as the league's Most Outstanding Rookie, followed that up with the Most Outstanding Player award as a sophomore, and now ends it as the leagues Most Outstanding Player. The 6'1" lefty went 18-3 on the season at number one singles and finished his career with a 65-23 record. He also went 19-8 in doubles play this season, with every match being played in the number one slot.
Jopling was solid as a rock for GW at number three singles, where he finished with a 16-6 record. His outstanding play this season brought his career record to 37-30. The 5'7" junior was also counted on by head coach Tom Hawkins in doubles play, where he went 14-7 with 12 victories coming in the number one slot.
Treadgold is making his third appearance on the A-10's All-Conference Team. He was selected last season after securing 12 singles victories and 17 doubles victories. The 6'2" junior improved on those numbers in 2004 going 19-3 primarily at number two singles and matching last season's mark with 17 doubles victories. Treadgold is now a spectacular 46-16 for his career in singles play and will try and equal Hane's feat of being named All-Conference four years in a row when he returns to GW next season.
