Senior Baseball Player Tony Dokoupil Earns Academic Awards

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington senior captain Tony Dokoupil is finishing out a splendid collegiate baseball career while preparing to address his class at this year's graduation. Dokoupil won the Distinguished Scholar Award from The George Washington University Business School which gives him the opportunity to be the school's graduation speaker. This week, the senior outfielder was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District II First Team and won GW's prestigious SAAC Senior Male Athlete Academic Award.
The marketing major has earned a 3.87 GPA and has been named to GW's Dean's Honor List as well as the Athletic Department Dean's list in each of his eight semesters. This is the third year that he has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District II First Team and he will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
In his four years as a Colonials baseball player, Dokoupil has put up some impressive numbers. As the senior comes to the homestretch of his collegiate career, he has left his name all over the GW record books. He has recently entered the Colonials all-time Top 10 list in five categories and is about to join two more lists.

8th in hits with 201.
9th in games played with 195.
9th (tied) in at bats with 642.
10th in stolen bases with 41.
10th (tied) in walks with 89.
# Has 282 total bases and needs one more to tie for 10th all-time.
# Has 141 runs and needs three more to tie teammate Chris Barry for 10th all-time.
