GW's Weigert Garners Weekly A-10 Award

WASHINGTON, DC - Freshman Marius Weigert (Hilton Head, SC/ESI International Academy) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's tennis. During Weigert's first tournament as a Colonial, he earned four victories, two each in singles and doubles competition.
Weigert was able to pull out two tough three set matches in singles competition, one against Washington College's Rafael Martins (6-3,3-6,6-4) and the other against Liberty's Kenan Bell, 3-6,7-6(5),6-4. His doubles victories came a little easier as he and his partner, junior Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School), beat Mary Washington College's Kevin Lodan and Dan Uyar in an eight game pro-set 9-8(3) and Liberty's Ricardo Shinozaki and Luiz Rino 8-5.
Next up for the Colonials is the Metro Championships starting Friday, September, 27 and continuing throughout the weekend.
