Colonials Swept in Weekend Matches, 0-3

The Colonials (5-7) began the tough two-day stretch with a morning match against Virginia Tech on Saturday, March 24. The Hokies beat the Colonials 7-1, with freshman Brett Warner taking GW's only match. In an evening match at Virginia Tech GW continued their struggles, falling to the Midshipmen1-6. The Colonials', sole point came from freshman Matt Hane who defeated Navy?s Ben Saloman 6-1, 6-2 in the #1 singles position. GW freshman Brett Warner battled Navy's Jim Shaughnessy losing in a tiebreaker of the third set, 6-2, 4-6, 6-7 (7-3).
On Sunday, March 25, GW traveled to play the Richmond Spiders in a 2:00 pm dual match. The Colonials were unable to break out of their losing skid, falling to the Spiders 0-4 after Richmond won the initial doubles point, and proceeded to take the first three singles matches. The Colonials did not finish the three remaining singles matches.
