WASHINGTON, DC (February 17, 2001) - Men¹s tennis dominated the Patriots on Friday behind solid play from the entire line-up.
George Washington swept the singles matches, picking up all six points. Freshman Matt Hane, juniors Kevin and Kinzie Wright and Nick Vikstrom won their matches easily with sophomore Mike Melen and freshman Brett Warner winning by default.
In doubles action, the Colonials only needed to win one match with George Mason only fielding two doubles teams. Hane and sophomore Drew Zamansky lost in the most competitive match of the day, losing in a tie-breaker 8-8 (1-4). However, Kevin Wright and Melen defeated GMU¹s second doubles team to take the seventh and final dual match point.
George Washington (3-4) next face West Virginia in a Saturday, February 17, dual match at the Mountaineers.
