Following a 10-8 season and a 3-2 mark in conference matches, the George Washington tennis team has earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted at the UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The Revolutionaries will face No. 12 St. Bonaventure in the opening round on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Â
Under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Jackie Calla, GW enjoyed its most successful season in four years, winning 10 matches, including seven of the team's last nine in the regular season. The emergence of first-years Alexandra Lindqvist and Devika Manu has also been a driving force in GW's success as Lindqvist leads the program with 11 singles wins on the year, while Manu is tied for the best singles winning percentage on the team with a 9-5 record. The pair has combined for five doubles wins as well, all coming in the third flight.
Â
Karen Verduzco enters the postseason red hot as well, having won her last six singles matches, the longest winning streak for GW this season. She also holds a 9-5 record in singles this year, while combining with teammate Madison Lee for a 12-6 record in doubles, leading the program.
Â
St. Bonaventure enters the A-10 Championship with a 3-16 record, including a 1-2 mark in A-10 matches. The Bonnies' lone conference win of the season came on April 4 against Duquesne, a 5-2 victory at home against the Dukes. St. Bonaventure also holds wins against Binghamton (Fed. 27) and D-II Slippery Rock (April 11).
Â
GW is looking for its first postseason win since 2023, when it beat St. Bonaventure in the A-10 opening round. A win on Wednesday advances GW to a quarterfinal meeting with Davidson on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats finished 10-7 on the year, including a 4-2 record in the A-10.
