The George Washington tennis team cruised to a 5-2 win over Delaware State on Saturday afternoon, sending senior Katya Balin out with a victory in her final home match. Prior to the contest, Balin, along with Graduate Assistant Stella Wiesemann, were honored by the program, joined by their teammates, family and friends.
Â
The Revolutionaries started the day strong, sweeping all three doubles matches to secure an early 1-0 lead. Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco picked up a 6-3 win in the first flight, improving their team-best record to 12-6 on the year. Solange Skeene and Victoria Sasinka shut out the Hornets for a 6-0 win at No. 2, moving to 9-8 in 2026, while Devika Manu and Alexandra Lindqvist finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win in third doubles. The first-year pairing now has five doubles wins on the year.
Â
Lee earned her 10th singles win of the season in the third flight after her opponent retired due to injury. Skeene's match was also cut short in the second set after she picked up a 6-1 win in the first set. Her opponent also withdrew from the match, giving her 9-8 singles record this spring. Lindqvist (6-1, 6-0) and Verduzco (6-1, 6-2) both dominated in their respective matches for GW's fourth and fifth points of the day. Lindqvist finishes the regular season with a team-best 11 singles wins, while Verduzco holds the team's best winning percentage at 9-5.
Â
Saturday's win over the Hornets concludes GW's regular season, finishing with a 10-8 overall record. 10 wins is the most the program has tallied in a single season since 2022, when GW finished 11-9. The Revolutionaries have now won seven of their last nine matches, playing their best tennis of the year entering the postseason.Â
Â
The GW Revs now await the final seeding for the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Final seedings and the first round schedule are expected to be announced on Sunday.
