Tennis Takes Down Longwood, Wins Fourth in Five Matches

The George Washington tennis team cruised to a 5-2 win over Longwood on Sunday, the team's fourth win in five matches. GW improves to 7-7 on the season with four matches to play until the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Longwood got out to an early lead by taking the doubles point with wins in the second and third flights. GW's lone win came in first doubles, a 6-2 victory for Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco. The pairing is now a team-best 10-4 on the year.

The Revolutionaries bounced back to take five of six singles matches, starting with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win in the first flight by Solange Skeene. Lee continued her solid day with a 7-5, 6-3 dub in third singles, while Alexandra Lindqvist earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the fourth flight. Verduzco pulled out a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win in fifth singles, while Devika Manu finished with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the sixth spot. Lindqvist improved her team-best record to 8-6 in singles, while Skeene and Lee both earned their seventh wins of the year.

The Revolutionaries are off for eight days until April 6th, when they travel to face Norfolk State. Match time is set for 10:00 a.m.
