GW tallied its first run of the day in the third inning when Ellis Schwartz recorded a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Steve DiTomaso. In the sixth inning, GW's bats came alive to put up three runs in the frame. The Revolutionaries got their first run of the inning courtesy of an RBI single to right center from Schwartz, while the second came off an RBI single to left from Bryan Belo. Nick Mullen capped off the three-run inning with an RBI single down the left field line, scoring Belo from first base. GW's final run of the game came in the seventh inning when Alexander Wright notched an RBI single through the right side. Scoring the final run was Robbie Lavey.
Graham Jeffries started on the mound for GW and tossed one inning. He allowed four earned runs and eventually took the loss, dropping him to 4-3 on the season. Reese Crochet had a solid appearance out of the Buff & Blue pen, throwing a scoreless second inning in relief. Offensively, Brett Young and Schwartz both finished with two hits apiece. Schwartz added the two RBI and a run scored. Belo, Mullen and Wright each recorded one hit and one RBI, while Lavey notched a hit and a run scored. GW's final hit on the day came from Sam Gates.
GW returns to action on Friday to open the final home series of the 2024 season. The Revolutionaries welcome UMass to Tucker Field on Friday for the series-opener at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's game will serve as Senior Day for the Buff & Blue with a ceremony set to take place before the 1:00 p.m. first pitch. The series concludes on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. and will also serve as Youth Day at Tucker Field. Kids 12 and under can receive admission to the game for just $5 and take part in running the bases after the game and joining a special autograph session with players and coaches. All three contests will be carried on ESPN+.
