Gymnastics Goes for EAGL Championship on Saturday

WASHINGTON - GW gymnastics is set to compete in the EAGL Championship on Saturday afternoon, looking to win the conference title for the second time in three years. Marchouts begin at 4 p.m. from Towson's TU Arena with live streaming coverage available on YouTube.

GW is looking to qualify for the NCAA Championship as a team for the first time since defeating Lindenwood and advancing to the second round in 2019. The Buff & Blue currently sit in 38th with a NQS of 196.145, just 0.180 behind the 36th and final spot currently held by Iowa State. Mathematically, the Revolutionaries could move themselves into the tournament with a score of at least 196.600 on Saturday.

GW earned plenty of hardware this week leading into the conference championship, seeing nine gymnasts earn All-EAGL accolades and 15 being named to the All-EAGL Scholastic team. Seniors Payton Lynch, Anneliese Silverman and Kendall Whitman headlined the group of academic honorees with Lynch and Silverman earning the award for the fourth time in their GW careers.
Silverman and Whitman also led the way in the All-EAGLÂ awards, each earning four commendations. Whitman was a first team selection on vault, beam, floor and in the all-around while Silverman earned first team honors on beam, floor and in the all-around while placing on the second team in vault.

Among the five teams competing at Saturday's championship, host Towson has already secured an NCAA berth and ranks 25th nationally with a 196.800 NQS. GW has squared off with Towson five times this year, earning three head-to-head wins and posting a program record 197.200 just last week in the same arena.
New Hampshire (48th, 195.585), Temple (54th, 195.230) and LIU (60th, 194,140) round out the field. The Buff & Blue split two meets with UNH, defeated Temple in their lone matchup and knocked off LIU in a dual meet last month.
