Gymnastics Posts Season-High at Second Annual Rip Current Awareness Meet

WASHINGTON -Â Competing in honor of the outstanding late alumna Alex deMoura '17, GW gymnastics posted a season-high 194.850 at its third home meet of the season.Â
The Revolutionaries finished third behind the meet-winning Towson Tigers (195.900) and Eastern Michigan Eagles (195.225) and ahead of the Fisk Bulldogs (189.800). George Washington also posted its second-highest floor team score of the season, earning a 49.125 with four of the six routines earning 9.825 or higher.Â
Senior Deana Sheremeta won the all-around competition with a career-high 39.225 and tied for first overall in the floor competition with a 9.900. She also set a new career-high on bars, finishing with a 9.850 on the apparatus. Joining Sheremeta in the all-around was sophomore Lola Montevago who earned a 9.800 or higher on three events with a 9.800 on vault, 9.875 on bars and 9.825 on beam to finish second in both the bars and beam competitions.Â
First-year Aspen Tucker set a personal-best on both the floor (9.825) and balance beam (9.750). In the season-best performance, junior Sophia Tyeryar also set a season-high mark on bars with a 9.750.Â
