Gymnastics’ Sheremeta, Montevago Honored as GW Takes Fifth at EAGL Championships

Standout gymnasts Deana Sheremeta and Lola Montevago shone on Saturday night at LIU, emerging from the competition among the EAGL's best. Montevago, a sophomore, tied for first in the individual bars competition with a season-best 9.925 in addition to claiming the all-around title with a new career-high 39.225.
Sheremeta, the team's standout senior, claimed third on both the floor (9.875) and vault (9.800), and was recognized at the conclusion of the championship meet as the EAGL Senior Gymnast of the Year, alongside Serena Mullin of New Hampshire.
During the 2026 regular season, Sheremeta added a Yurchenko full on vault, allowing her to compete in the all-around all season for the first time in her collegiate career.
The senior earned EAGL Gymnast of the Week honors twice, and at the conclusion of the regular season, Sheremeta ranked No. 17 on vault, No. 6 on bars, No. 5 on beam, No. 1 on floor and No. 4 in the all-around within the EAGL.
Additionally, she was named First Team All-EAGL on bars, beam, floor and in the all-around and was a 2025 NCAA Regional Qualifier on both beam and floor.
The Revolutionaries claimed a fifth-place finish Saturday with a 194.125, behind a season-high 49.100 on bars. On bars, two GW Revs set career-highs with both Alexia Zakaryan and Zoe Safran breaking the 9.800 threshold on championship night to join Montevago's winning 9.925, Sheremeta's 9.825, a 9.750 from Sophia Tyeryar and a 9.700 from Maya Peters.
The Revolutionaries put up a 48.925 on floor, 48.675 on vault and 47.425 on the beam to finish fifth behind the Temple Owls (194.350), the New Hampshire Wildcats (194.775) and the host LIU Sharks (195.075), while the Towson Tigers claimed the EAGL Championship with a 196.375.
At the conclusion of the meet, George Washington placed five gymnasts on the All-Tournament Team, with Sheremeta, Montevago, Zakaryan, Safran and Peters all collecting the accolade from the EAGL.

George Washington will now await word on NCAA individual qualifiers for the 2026 Regional Competition which will be announced on Monday at 12 p.m. on ESPNU. Regionals will take place April 1-5 at various host sites across the NCAA.
