GW to compete in first-ever NGI Tournament
WASHINGTON – GW golf will play in its final tournament of the season this weekend at the National Golf Invitational (NGI) at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. GW will play three rounds across Friday-Sunday, with tee times between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., all three days. Live scoring of the tournament is available on Golfstat.
THE PARTICIPANTS
In addition to GW, Arkansas State, Ball State, Valparaiso, Utah Valley, Stetson, Santa Clara, Texas State, Oral Roberts, Penn State, Washington State, Troy and Wyoming will complete the 13-team field.Â
THE ROAD TO THE NGIÂ
Following its historical season, GW was selected to the inaugural NGI based on its head-to-head wins on the year and its cumulative average of Golfweek and Golfstat rankings. GW finished the regular season with a 107-39-4 record, which ranks as one of the top totals this year and best overall record in GW program history. The Buff & Blue set the lowest single-season scoring team average with a 287.7 and had three golfers averaging below a 73 throughout the fall and spring seasons.Â
