GW to play at UMass on Friday, at Mason on Sunday
WASHINGTON – Fresh off a two-win weekend, GW lacrosse will look to extend its win streak when it travels to No. 17 UMass on Friday for a 1:30 p.m. opening draw before heading to George Mason on Sunday for a noon start.
LAST TIME OUTÂ
The Buff & Blue picked up its first two conference victories last weekend with an 11-5 win over La Salle on Friday and a 13-10 edge over St. Bonaventure on Sunday. GW maintained a lead throughout the entire 60 minutes of both contests, with nine different goal scorers recording a tally across the two games. Senior co-captain Tori Hampton led the team in goals (five) and assists (three), including a career-high six-point outing on Sunday after the midfielder recorded three goals and three assists. It was Hampton's first hat trick of 2022 and tenth all-time. Megan Patrick earned two wins in net, with 16 saves at La Salle and eight vs. the Bonnies.
A LOOK AT UMASSÂ
The nationally-ranked Minutewomen moved to 10-2 on Sunday with a commanding 19-7 win over George Mason. UMass is undefeated in conference play (4-0) and first in the A-10 in goals per game, points per game and shots on goal per game. The Minutewomen also lead the league in caused turnovers per game and draw controls per game. Individually, UMass has four student-athletes who have surpassed the 40-goal mark, with Kaitlyn Cerasi and Kelly Marra leading the team with 47 goals apiece. Â
MATCHUP WITH MASONÂ
The Patriots (2-9, 1-4 A-10) earned a 15-7 win over the Bonnies last Friday. Heading into its two-game weekend, Olivia O'Brien, Ioanna Mantzouratos and Shannon Tuozzo lead the Patriots with 20 scores each. Mantzouratos, a 2021 GW graduate, has scored in all but one contest for Mason, including eight multi-score outings. Â
