Lacrosse Holds Off St. Bonaventure, 13-10

WASHINGTON – After a career-high day for Tori Hampton, GW lacrosse moved to 2-2 in conference play with a 13-10 win over St. Bonaventure on Sunday at the Mount Vernon Lacrosse Field. Hampton tallied a career-high six points behind three goals and three assists, registering her fourth multi-score game this season.
GW scored the game's first four goals, including a pair from Katelyn Walker, before St. Bonaventure got on the board with one minute remaining in the opening quarter. GW's offense continued to roll in the second quarter, outscoring the Bonnies 5-1 to head into halftime with a commanding 9-2 lead.
St. Bonaventure put together a five-goal third quarter, but the Buff & Blue tallied a pair to maintain an 11-7 lead with 15 minutes remaining. Three St. Bonaventure goals began the final frame, cutting the deficit to one goal before Hampton scored back-to-back goals to help GW hold off the visitors and move to .500 in conference play.
GW maintained a lead throughout Sunday's contest, with seven goals being the largest deficit the Bonnies would have to face. The Buff & Blue had seven different goal scorers in the victory, including multi-score outings from Hampton, Walker, Katie Lederman and Kendall Lambert. In net, Megan Patrick made eight saves on 18 shots put on goal.

GW will head to A-10 preseason favorite UMass on Friday for a 1:30 p.m. opening draw. GW will then return to the DMV to visit George Mason on Sunday for a noon start.
