Anthony Frechette and Harrison Cohen earn conference recognition after three-win week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Senior Anthony Frechette and redshirt senior Harrison Cohen of GW baseball were awarded A-10 weekly honors, the conference announced on Monday. The batterymates were crucial in helping the Colonials win their second A-10 series of the year.
Frechette, who was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week, caught all 36 innings for the Buff & Blue and slashed a hearty .562/.632/.938. Frechette was the hero in GW's series clinching win against Dayton on Sunday, going 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and RBI single. In total, the West Chester, Pa. native tallied nine hits, including three doubles, a homer, and six RBIs last week. This is Frechette's first A-10 weekly award. Â
Meanwhile, Cohen, who took home A-10 pitcher of the week honors, helped give GW a Friday afternoon win against the Flyers. The Syosset, NY native tossed eight scoreless innings, while tying his career-high in strikeouts with 11. Friday's start was Cohen's second-straight with at least eight innings pitched and 11 strikeouts. This is the second A-10 weekly award for Cohen, who also took home Pitcher of the Week in March of 2020.Â
George Washington returns to action tomorrow afternoon when it hosts William & Mary at Tucker Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
