Colonials on the verge of No. 7 seed in A-10 Championship with victory
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball completes the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday afternoon with a visit to Fordham to take on the Rams. Tip is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
CREAM OF THE CROP: Joe Bamisile (30 points) and James Bishop (23) accounted for 53 of GW's 98 points on Wednesday, the third time this season both have gone over 20 in the same game. Bamisile is now tied for the A-10 lead with 11 20-point games this season, while Bishop is right behind him with 10 of his own. The 53 combined points are their most in a game this season, surpassing the previous best of 51 vs. La Salle on Feb. 2.
ALL-CONFERENCE DUO: Bamisile and Bishop have produced the best 1-2 scoring punch in the A-10 this year, combining for a league-high 36.5 ppg in league play. In conference play, Bamisile (18.4 ppg) is second in the A-10 in scoring and Bishop (18.1) is third. The two are 1-2 in total points scored during conference games. Overall, Bishop (17.1) is second and Bamisile (16.1) ranks seventh. The 33.2 combined ppg trails only George Mason's Josh Oduro and D'Shawn Schwartz (33.7).
DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE: Ricky Lindo Jr. celebrated his Senior Night with his fifth double-double of the season, tallying 12 points and 14 boards. He is the first Colonial with at least five double-doubles in one year since Tyler Cavanaugh had 12 in 2016. He is the only player in the A-10 to rank in the top 10 per game in defensive rebounds (6.1, 2nd), total rebounds (7.7, 4th), blocks (1.7, 6th) and steals (1.5, 7th) and is one of just two players in the NCAA with those averages (Norchad Omier, Arkansas State).
A LOOK AT THE RAMS: Fordham has played well under first-year head coach Kyle Neptune, improving from a 2-12 season last year to a 7-10 mark in league play this season. The Rams hold a 9-4 record in their home gym and have won three straight on their own floor, including an 85-73 victory over UMass on Monday.
Darius Quisenberry is the team's leading scorer at 16.8 ppg, and had 13 of his team-high 15 in the second half of GW's 64-55 victory in January. Chuba Ohams averages a double-double with 14.3 ppg and 11.3 rpg to complement Quisenberry. Fordham makes its mark on the defensive end, sitting 50th in the NCAA, and fourth in the A-10, at .968 points per possession allowed.
