Lacrosse Opens 2022 Season at Navy

WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse will begin its non-conference slate on Saturday, visiting Navy for a 4 p.m. start with live coverage available on ESPN+.
BUFF & BLUE IN 2022:Â GW finished 6-6 overall in 2021, with a 3-4 mark in the Atlantic 10. All-Rookie Team honoree Bailey Aaron returns to the GW attack for her sophomore season after netting 16 goals last year. Sophia Watkinson is GW's top returning offensive threat after putting together a 19-goal season in her first year with the Buff & Blue after transferring from Drexel. Senior Megan Patrick is also back after playing in all 12 games for GW in 2021. The Aurora, Colo., native made 127 stops in net last season, allowing 163 goals to earn a .438 save percentage.
NEW FACES: GW welcomed 15 newcomers to the program this offseason, including 13 first-years and two transfers. Graduate student Allison Brown (Oregon) and sophomore Colby Cooper (Howard) will be among the newest members of GW's midfield. Â
SCOUTING NAVY:Â The Midshipmen enter Saturday's game 2-0 after wins against Cal and George Mason. Navy is led by Leelee Denton, who has netted six goals in two games. Attacker Lindsay Beardmore has tallied four goals and Kasey Dietzel has added three. Navy goalkeeper Jo Torres earned her second win of the young season on Thursday vs. the Patriots. Torres has allowed 18 goals this season and boasts a .486 save percentage.
