Colonials entertain Blazers on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball will take to the Charles E. Smith Center floor in front of fans for the first time in 608 days on Monday evening as the Colonials welcome Hood College for a preseason exhibition. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. There will be no live stream of the event, but tickets are available here.
Please note that the university has revised and updated its visitor policy, adding new requirements for our guests to campus. Visitors need to attest that they are vaccinated, or if they are unvaccinated, attest that they have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of their visit to campus, by registering here. Thank you for helping to keep GW safe.
THE 2021-22 COLONIALS: GW enters year three of the Jamion Christian era in 2021-22 with an overwhelmingly new cast of student-athletes. The Buff & Blue return six members of last year's team while welcoming six transfers, two scholarship first-years and two walk-ons. GW brings back 33.8% of its minutes, 39.1% of its scoring and 31.1% of its total rebounding from a year ago.
BUILDING THE PROGRAM: Senior Amir Harris is the only member of the program that was on the roster in Coach Christian's first season at GW (2019-20). Harris appeared in 11 games that season while missing the first 11 and last nine games of the campaign with injuries. As a result, 15 of the 16 members of this year's team are in their first or second year under Coach Christian's direction.
TRANSFER MARKET:Â The Colonials have nine members of the program who started their college career at another D-I program, the most in the NCAA. This offseason, GW brought in five D-I transfers, tied for the sixth-most in the nation. GW has 10 total transfers on its roster, the second-most in the country behind only Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12).
ABOUT HOOD:Â The Blazers are a Division III program out of Frederick, Md., who will be returning to action after not competing in 2020-21. Hood was 17-11 in its last season in 2019-20, a year which also started with an exhibition against GW. The Buff & Blue rolled to an 83-55 win behind 54% shooting and 14 made 3-pointers.
