WASHINGTON -Â GW men's basketball has dipped into the international market with the addition of native Slovenian Lovro Urbiha, Head Coach Chris Caputo announced on Wednesday.
"Lovro is a skilled front court player, who can play both inside and on the perimeter," Caputo said. "His experience in the ABA League in Slovenia has prepared him to make an immediate impact in college basketball."
Urbiha played for Krka Novo Mesto during the 2025-26 season, competing in Slovenia's top professional league as well as the ABA, which is the league in the region of countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. In 50 games he averaged 8.7 ppg and 3.6 rpg while shooting north of 50% overall and 40% from beyond the arc.
The 6'8" forward who hails from Slovenia's capital city of Ljubljana, has represented his country three times on the national stage - at the Euro U18 in 2021-22 and at the Euro U20 in 2022-23 and 2023-24. He previously played for Kansai Helios and ECE Triglav Kranj in the Slovenian professional ranks.
2026-27 Season Tickets for GW men's basketball are on sale now, starting as low as $125. The Revolutionaries are coming off back-to-back postseason appearances and the program's first postseason win in nine years at Utah Valley in the opening round of the NIT.
